Abstract

This workshop introduces theoretical foundations of contemplative approaches to teaching and learning; engages participants in experiential learning to demonstrate some mindfulness exercises that can be used when difference and difficulties arise in discussions; and offers other resources to cultivate a classroom culture of wellbeing.

Rachael Crowder PhD RSW, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary Teaching Scholar in Contemplative Pedagogy. Rachael’s teacher training in mindfulness began in 2006: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy with Dr. Zindel Segal.
