Abstract

As a new faculty member it is sometimes difficult to enter into the world of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL). This conversation cafe addresses different institutional models of support for SOTL research and invites participants to reflect on effective SOTL mentorship strategies for faculty new to SOTL research.

 

Bios

Samantha Christine Thrift

An Instructor in the Department of Communication, Media and Film, Samantha Thrift specializes in feminist media activism and its interventions in political discourse. This panel stems from her recent transition to SOTL research, which is fuelled by her interest in experiential learning and teaching in times of crisis.

 

Lisa Stowe

Lisa Stowe has been a faculty member in the Department of Communication, Media and Film since 2006. Most of her SOTL research is dedicated to understanding how Short Term Travel Study Programs are unique forms of student learning and has presented on this topic at various teaching and learning conferences.
